ODEON says...
‘The Man Who Invented Christmas’ is the true story of how Charles Dickens wrote the beloved classic novel ‘A Christmas Carol’, and created a holiday tradition by doing so.

Reeling from the failure of his last few books and suffering from writer’s block, he was desperate to write something that would save his career and keep his family afloat. He just needed a main character… and he found the perfect one in Ebenezer Scrooge.

Dan Stevens is ‘The Man Who Invented Christmas’ in this incredible true tale that also stars Christopher Plummer, Jonathan Pryce and Simon Callow.

The film was brilliant! Dan Stevens played a young Charles Dickens perfectly. Got great humour and drama. A perfect Xmas film for all the family. It was great to see how Dickens came up with the idea of Christmas Carol.

Clever classic!

This is a heartwarming spin on A Christmas Carol with a young Charles Dickens confronting his own ghosts in the writing of the yuletide classic. Stirring performances and nods to its source material this will become a festive favourite. Loved it!

To be missed

Sadly this film misses the mark. The idea of the plot is good but it comes across as being directed by half a dozen directors not working together. Take out 50% of the scenes and it would be as bad. Go and see Muppets Christmas Carol !
