1917 is a film beautifully photographed ,of a brutal time gone by. Acting from the whole cast is flawless. we came out of the cinema feeling emotional which is exactly what was intended. Best Picture material without a doubt

Must get through

A WW1 tale of the need to fulfill a mission to avert catastrophe. The Charge of the Light Brigade would have learned from this story. Well told on the big screen in a largely grey khaki monochrome effect. German militarism only temporarily subdued.

As war films go, not quite in the same league as Saving Private Ryan. Not sure why people are banging on about the 'one take' being so marvellous. Also, the plot seems a bit unbelievable at times. E.g. German pilot reaction, woman & baby scene.
