ODEON says...
Two-time Oscar-winner Tom Hanks portrays Mister Rogers in A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood, a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between Fred Rogers and journalist Tom Junod.

After a jaded magazine writer (Emmy winner Matthew Rhys) is assigned a profile of Fred Rogers, he overcomes his scepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America's most beloved neighbour.

Find Peace

A film like ‘Being There’ and ‘Lost Horizon’ (1937). Could be transforming. Anyway, a safe haven for a little peace and harmony. Thoughtful acting from Tom Hanks

An absolute gem

Film appreciation, like many things, is completely subjective. You can read 100 reviews and still not completely agree with any of them and that's why I rarely feel compelled to write them. For me, this film was one of the best and most special that I've ever seen. It's quirky and, although linear, dips into different worlds and perspectives at times. I loved the feeling of being transported back to the late 90s and I thought that the writing and directing was as sublime as the acting from the whole cast. But what I loved the most was what I took from it - that nobody is completely broken, that we all just need somebody to listen to us, and that even the most wonderful and happiest people have to work at life. If you enjoy indie flicks that can get inside your emotions then you will love this.

Apparently a true story, but so strange to watch. It reminds you of the background to Sesame street. Tom Hanks is totally immersed in role, and its a tour de force, it is very strange but real life sometimes is. Well worth a patient watch.
