ODEON says...
Midway recreates the tide-turning World War Two battle. Here’s why it’s simply unmissable...

The Japanese raid on Pearl Harbour during the Second World War was the greatest intelligence failure in American history. But a follow-up attack was foreseen: the battle of ‘Midway’.

The American navy may have known the attack was coming, but they were still underdogs with an undermanned fleet. Up against an overwhelmingly powerful adversary, they fought a decisive battle that would be a turning point in the War.

Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson and Aaron Eckhart star in ‘Midway’, a spectacular war film about one of the most important naval battles in history, from the director of ‘Independence Day’.

The sadness and horrors of war, based on fact this film is moving and sad. Don't expect to leave the cinema with a smile on your face.

A reasonable attempt is made to explain events leading up to and during the battle of Midway, and the CGI is very impressive. Unfortunately, like a lot of Hollywood war films it suffers from two-dimensional characterisation and clunky dialogue.

Midway is Great

A brilliant film, very well made with some excellent performances, they stick mostly to the story and I am sure most veterans will appreciate the authenticity, for me this is on a par with Dunkirk, ignore the critics have said this is a great film

Spectacular depiction of air and sea battle conflict, otherwise impossible to imagine. The story Hollywood tells beyond that is of the personal and human experience of individual players and of their ultimate fate. Good to see Dennis Quaid again.
